Gammelstad is the former city centre of Luleå. Today this village is independent, but still worth a visit. Especially the stone church from the Middle Ages is famous for its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but also the many little red houses tempt you to stroll around. The church was built in the 15th century and was used for religious events by the families who couldn’t return home on the same day.
