The current castle was built in 1514–1522 on the foundations of an old mill. After the Palace of Versailles, it is the most visited castle in France.
Château de Chambord is the largest castle in the Loire Valley. It was constructed by King Francis I of France. This château is distinctive in its French Renaissance architecture blending medieval forms with classical Renaissance structures.
